Minimeet Schedule and clarification about drabbles
by hesadevil (hesadevil)
at October 12th, 2006 (03:37 pm)

I've printed off the weekend schedule and will bring enough copies for everyone. The only change to the original schedule is the 9pm item on Saturday because kazzy_cee has agreed to lead the artist item. I spoke to the conference room manager and have arranged for our room to be available beyond the 6pm slot. Would gillo please confirm that this doesn't add to the cost of the room as the manager didn't mention costs during our discussion.

I don't have the wherewithal to make all the badges so would everyone remember to do their own.

As calove will not be present, who's bringing the chocolate and should I still bring bubbly for anyone? Fear not bogwitch your Nanny Ogg Scumble is already packed.

Re-drabbles
The word prompts are in the schedule behind the cut and it was proposed that a 'here's one I made earlier' drabble (or more if the Muse strikes) be brought to read during after-dinner drinks. The artists among you were invited to illustrate their drabbles or use the prompt to create some graphics.

Minimeet Schedule. October 13th-15th

Friday

8pm – Muster at the hotel bar and eat.
9pm. Bring your 100 word drabble(s) to read/share with the group over drinks. Location to be decided over the meal.
Choose one of the following prompts, or, if the Muse co-operates, as many as you like. Writer-artists might like to illustrate one of the drabbles they produce.
Word Prompts
Sci-fi
Fantasy
Geeks, geeks.

Saturday

9am – 11am Discussion - Why are you still a fan/writer of BtVS/AtS,
followed by a SWOT analysis of the writerconuk community. - woman_of_ will lead the SWOT.

11am Tea/coffee break.
11.30am - Brainstorming a WriterCon Convention Programme. Bring along your ideas for items to include for both writers and artists. bogwitch will chair this as woman_of_ and hesadevil will analyse the SWOT and prepare reports for later.

1pm-2pm – lunch
2pm-4pm – Report back and discussion of the morning’s brainstorming sessions.

4pm Tea/coffee break.
4.30 – Bring along some ideas for Halloween fic/graphics titles for a challenge to be posted on writerconuk by 31st October. I'm hoping we can work with sueworld2003 and her Highgate visit somehow. We may need to make a start with this before the Highgate trip.
This session will be ideal for the sharing of information, contacts, organisations, URL links that you feel might be of use to the writerconuk organising committee.

7-8.30 Dinner
9pm - Illustrating the writing. Do you use fic banners? Are they book covers by another name? What's the artists’ pov? Kazzy Cee has been 'volunteered to lead this.

___________________________________________________________
Sunday

9am – Summing up – the next step – what are our options? Feeding back to the writerconuk community.

I'll bring a bottle of champagne if you'll bring some dark chocolate.

Personally, I'm addicted to rose and violet creams but they're quite difficult to get so I'd go with after-dinner mints as most people find them acceptable.

I'll bring something!

Milk chocs? Biccies? Coke (not the white sort)?

I have done my drabble and illustrated it. I think the quality of the drabble doesn't justify the art, mind you.

Anything else I should bring?

Biccies would be nice. My preference is plain chocolate digesive but I know you don't like the dark stuff.

Bottled water.

And your laptop - I may bite the bullet and install PSP.

I like dark! Just not the ultra-sweet British stuff. Mmm. Lindt.

White, on the other hand, I'm not so keen on.

Argh! RL sucks..... I need to get my act together to do something arty... however what I may end up doing is a demo... because I'm not back until 9.45pm this evening and working all tomorrow....*sobs*

*excuses, excuses!*

Something you've already done that would 'fit' one of the prompts would be fine. The exercise is meant to be an 'ice-breaker' to introduce everyone's style so don't sweat over producing something new if you've got something that will do.

It's going to be tough for me to check the "extra cost or not" thing before tomorrow evening - I've only just got to this at 6.20, and have to leave the house in ten minutes for a concert at school. I suggest we just go with it - I prepaid, after all, so I'll do astounded and amazed if they hint at extra cost...

I have a bottle of pink champagne somewhere, and could bring non-fizzy wine too, if anyone's interested...

We've just celebrated MWNN's birthday a day early so I've only just seen this.

I doubt that there's an extra cost for the room. What he said was 'you have it for the day.' Then I asked what time he envisaged we'd finish and he said '6pm'. I then told him we had a final session scheduled to start at 9, after we'd dined, and he said that wouldn't be a problem.

Pink champers sounds great.

Break a leg at the concert.

This concert, thank God, wasn't my responsibility - but it was good. Daughter #2 was in it, plus huge numbers of my Les Mis cast. so I had to show willing.

It sounds reasonably promising about the room - I'll just play dumb/outraged if they try to charge more. I was naughty and sent a cheque rather than a card number when I booked, so they can't pinch more....

Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!
