Big Day Soon!

excited

current mood: excited

Hi everyone! Well nearly the big day, I was wondering about us all meeting up, and would it help if I tried to get the hotel to make an announcement at about 8pm at reception? I was going to say 7pm, but might make it an hour later to give everyone a bit more time to get here.

I looked round for some Restaurants in Long Eaton, and found four that might be suitable.

1) American, Branaghans, Jarvis Nottingham Hotel, Bostock Lane
2) The Chandelier Tandoori Resturant, 115-117 Derby Road
3) New Adelphi Restaurant 10-12 Gibb Street
4) Trattoria II Nautica Trent Lock.

I don't know about distance from the hotel, or if we could get some honest to goodness pub meals, these were the ones I found on the internet.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone too!! Do you think for the first evening it might be better to eat in the hotel brasserie? That way late comers won't get lost.

I won't be at Long Eaton station until 8pm (if the train's on time) so I'll be at the hotel a little later than that.

Um, yes, wondering about eating out first night? People without cars...people with cars not being able to drink...only a thought, but is there anywhere in hotel to eat for first evening?

I’m going to lurk in bar and reception and accost anyone who looks likely. Oh what a fun day I’m going to have. headlines in newspaper (middle aged woman arrested for squeeing at complete stranger!}

LOL!!!! I won't laugh if you squee at me!! ;) I'm looking forward to lurking, but then I also have Shez's mobile number so I can harrass her and let her know I'm there! :)

I concur, sweetie, about eating in if poss on Friday. *gulps* That's only tomorrow!

hils and I should be arriving sometime between 3pm and 4pm. Booking in the name of Whyman, so if at loose end just get reception to buzz us and we (you and I) can be middle-aged together and make Hils feel truly youthful!

PS How do you do a drabble?

Thanks for info. I’m aiming at five or six o’clock. Will hunt you both down. Have a nasty feeling I might be the ‘youngest’ there, except for the number of years on birth certificate.

Do you think first there should book a table for evening meal? Or i suppose we could all squeeze into someone’s bedroom and order pizza!

Three drabbles have insisted on coming with me. Someone - yesterday - said were we supposed to write them there? Oh! It would make a very silent few hours!

Hee! Looking forward to being hunted down by young at heart!

Am sure we will make swift decisions as to food when all get there.

I wasn't joking - have never even attempted a drabble and they are not something I particularly enjoy reading either - so the silence would be broken by my less than manicured nails tapping irritatingly on the table! *grins*

A drabble is exactly 100 words. I usually write mine by getting down on paper the first idea that pops into my head as I read the prompt word. Sometimes I start with a snatch of conversation, sometimes with the idea the prompt has sparked. I just keep writing and checking the number of words as I work towards thje 'punch line' or ending. Think of it as a very short scene that might appear in a longer piece of writing, one that will stand alone and make sense by itself because it makes a point, perhaps about a character or a relationship or something that happened on screen.

My longer writing tends to be angst-ridden but so far (not the one I'm bringing tomorrow) many of my drabbles have been comedy.

Thanks for scoping out the local eateries. I think the consensus is that we should eat in. I don't think the prices will be too outrageous and there is a choice of bar snacks or the brasserie. It'll also save time and allow the drivers to drink with their meals.

I suggest we meet up at 8pm in the bar and adjourn to whichever eating location gets the most votes. I've just finished printing off the revised schedule and will bring enough copies for everyone. I'll post an entry so that the newcomers will know what is happening in advance.

Captain Jack - by Anniesj

Sounds like the best idea to me. I'm arriving at 7pm so just after by the time I've cabbed it from the station. For those who don't know me, I'm the tall mixed race woman with long, dark hair and a very London accent. Okay so this doesn't stand out as a discription in the UK, but works across the pond!

I'm sure we'll all find each other in tyhe bar!

TTUT (tata until tomorrow *g*)

Xan

ps. Never written a drabble in my life, but willing to have a go. ;>D
